The Wonders of Autumn
The wonders of autumn abound.
I have always been mesmerized by the colors in the fall, and pause frequently to watch the leaves toss to and fro in the wind. The contrast of the bright yellows and reds against the blue sky holds me fixated. But the wonders of autumn go beyond the sense of sight. It is even more than the juxtaposition of the bitter wind whistling through the shade and the warmth of the sun just around the corner, or even the smells of clove and cinnamon and pumpkin.
What has fascinated me most is the thinning of the veil . With Samhain and All Saints Day, the connection with those who have passed before us is strong, and it is that sense of connection that draws me in to this glorious season.
I lost two men I called brothers this year–Billy Dandridge and Pat Kercher– and this week I have remembered them in all of their glory–their laughs, their mischievousness, and their loving, wild hearts. If we all had a little more Dandy or Kerchery in our lives, the world would be richer for it.
Diffusing an essential oil blend called Sacred Mountain daily, I have opened my mind to hear from them and they have not been silent, as cardinals, woodpeckers and other birds have made their way into my days, and roses in different colors make their way into my dreams. I encourage you to pause, too, and explore the wonders of the season, knowing the Creator has gifted you connections too.
