Sunday Scribe: Cassia
Have you ever wondered about The Oils of Ancient Scripture? I have! So, today I’m going to share my findings. We will start with Cassia.
Purpose:
“Cassia was a key ingredient in the incense used in temple worship. (Psalms 45:8)”
Cassia has a warm, reassuring scent that helps with focus and concentration. Cassia is considered a fire plant.
Description:
In its original form, Cassia is thicker and darker than cinnamon sticks. Cassia has a stronger scent than straight cinnamon.
Name Information and Historical Uses:
Cassia is a hot leaf-derived oil with the Latin name of Cinnamomum Cassia. Historically, this plant was burned by pharaohs in the compounds. It was used for clarity of mind and visions, used in purification rituals, and focused people on their spiritual connections.
Historically, cassia has been used also for oral care. 😁
