What an exciting couple of months!
The world is an entirely different place than it was in February. In February, I was able to attend the Super Stars Writing Seminar in Colorado Springs. Phenomenal! It was also life changing.
I learned not only about the business of writing and worked on my craft, but I also met the Tribe. These people are geeks just like me and my teenage sons. They get me. They are equally versed in the nerdiness of Lord of the Rings (books and movies) and Harry Potter. Lauren Moore from Keystroke Medium even did a YouTube video with several of us about What’s up with Writers Cons. That was SO much fun. (We’ll be doing another this Thursday at 9pm ET on post pandemic publishing!)
The Tribe understands, too, that writing can be a lonely business, but it doesn’t have to be. What a gift it has been to have writers in my life as the world turned upside down. My day job doesn’t look like it used to, though I am lucky to still have a paycheck. I have made use of the time I have available to be working a lot on my craft and my novel. My writers ring, Conjurings, has been a source of inspiration and support.
I’ve also researched everything from plant remedies from multiple cultures to the symbolism, legends, and myths regarding pentagrams and trees of life from different spiritual backgrounds. I’m also spending a lot of my time with my cats, dogs, and teens. The dogs love their walks. The cats, their time in the sun. The teens? Dungeons and Dragons with my boys once or twice a week– I am now a Kalashtar Cleric. The past two months have flown by. (Seriously, I don’t even know what day it is!)
I hope that you’re keeping yourself safe and healthy, and that, no matter what day you think it is, that you are learning that social distancing doesn’t have to mean you’re in it all alone.
